  • Award for Best Director in the category for documentary and current affairs films at the Czech and Slovak Film Festival in Bratislava for the film There and Back: awarded for the best short film censored during the years 1969-1989

  • Main prize - Golden Bell - at the Czech and Slovak Film Festival in Bratislava for Train to Maturity as best documentary film of the year 1989-1990

  • Grand Prix at the 6th Ethnofilm Festival ("Čadca") for the film There and Back (jointly with the film Train to Maturity)

  • Annual Prize awarded by the Czech Literary Fund in the short film category for the film Train to Maturity

  • 1st prize at the 2nd International Film Scene in Salzburg for the film Train to Maturity

1992

  • Annual "Trilobite" prize awarded by the Film and Television Union (FITES) in the television category for the year 1991 for conceptual production, writing and direction projects (jointly with the creators of the series OKO)

1993

  • Annual "Trilobite" prize awarded by the Film and Television Union (FITES) in the television category for the year 1992 for the series GEN and OKO

  • Jury Prize for the series GEN and OKO for the filmmakers affiliated within FEBIO at the Academia Film and Video Festival, Olomouc

  • "1 June 1953" award from Plzeň City Council for "the support of democracy and for consistent defence of human rights through the press, radio and television"

  • Came third (after Zdeněk Svěrák and Bolek Polívka) in a major readers' survey held by the daily Lidové Noviny entitled "The greatest Czechs of the 1990's", category "film and theatre" (results published 29.12.1999)

2001

  • Jury Prize for the head of the project Travel Mania for the period 1999-2000, at Tourfilm, Karlovy Vary

  • Prize awarded by Sazka and the Czech Film and Television Academy for the third best unrealised screenplay for a feature-length film in 2003 - script for the film Czech Comedy

  • Prize awarded by Czech Film and Television Academy "ELSA" in the category "Document of the year" for the cycle "Travel Mania".
